Shoe Boxes of Love

The tragic Queensland floods inspired MSVS Consultancy staff member Kimberley Marshall to commence the Shoe Boxes of Love campaign.Donations were sought in the form of shoe boxes filled with both useful and small luxury item for survivors of the floods.  With the wonders of viral marketing using email and Facebook, the campaign ballooned with the charity needing to transport over 11,000 shoe boxes!

Kimberley, along with her hard working team established several drop off points in the city and suburbs, with a portion of the boxes being urgently sentto areas affected by Cyclone Yasi.  The remainder were then distributed with the assistance of Rotary Club & Chaplaincy Australia to flood effected areas.

Kimberley has now established Shoe Boxes of Love formally as an ongoing charity,to which MSVS Consultancy continues to proudly support.

SA Young Australian of the Year Finalist 2012

Kimberley has recently been selected as one of four finalists in South Australia for the Young Australian of the Year Award 2012 for her work with the Shoe Boxes of Love campaign. Kimberley  founded and coordinated a team of volunteers to oversee and sort over 10,000 shoe box sized boxes, containing both essential and luxury items generously donated by the South Australian community.  These boxes were  then distributed to those most affected by the floods and Cyclone Yasi in Northern Queensland. What started as a small idea spread with tremendous speed throughout South Australia and Australia and turned into one of the biggest organic grassroots efforts for flood and disaster relief.

Subsequently, Shoe Boxes of Love Inc. was officially recognised as a not-for-profit organisation on 22nd March 2011 ensuring that Kimberley and her team of volunteers can continue to provide support to those who have been affected by disasters in Australia.
